Come July and Memorial Drive is busy with organizers and volunteers planning and executing the famous Calgary Folk Music Festival. Reputed for being one of the hottest music events in Canada, this festival's success and popularity is largely credited to the efficient networking and marketing that takes place at Memorial Drive's event office. Held each year in late July, Folk Fest is a four-day feast of acoustic folk, Celtic, world, blues, bluegrass, roots, alternative, country music and more. It's all held outdoors, amidst the green lawns and trees of Prince's Island Park. Past performers include Joan Baez, David Byrne, Joan Armatrading and countless more. The organizers also make an effort to introduce new talent.
