At the western most point of Santa Monica sits its picturesque Pier, complete with smiling faces, the sound of crashing waves and the smell of freshly cooked seafood coming from the Lobster restaurant. Since first opening in 1923, it has become a landmark for those who prefer to eat maine lobster at the beach instead of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with sand in it. The menu includes a diverse mix of poultry, pasta and beef dishes, however seafood is clearly the centerpiece. Some of the time tested favorites include the barbecued Californian sea bass and of course, the steamed maine lobster which is served with asparagus, roasted potatoes and drawn butter.
