The focal point of downtown Vientiane is Nam Phu Fountain. It has been a part of the Vientiane 'picture-postcard' setting for around 100 years. The park around the fountain is currently being refurbished but one can still enjoy the gentle spray and cool breeze on the benches around its perimeter. Many restaurants with outside seating surround the fountain, making for a nice late evening meal.
